The Best Season to Travel in Europe – Spring
Last Updated on March 4, 2020 by Polly Dimitrova
Each season has its own beauty, but there is something extra magical about spring. Spring brings new beginnings and life becomes colorful and vibrant again, which makes it the best season to travel in Europe. August will be here soon and I am already thinking and planning my trips for next spring!
Here are my top reasons why the best season to travel in Europe is spring.
Green and Colourful
I absolutely love the colours of spring. Pink and white blooming trees, yellow and red tulips, purple lilacs, green landscapes, blue skies and romantic orange sunsets. Spring is the season to celebrate the nature’s beauty and its amazing colours.
Budget-Friendly
Traveling in Spring is certainly much cheaper compared to travelling during the peak tourist season – Summer. Most of the tourist attractions increase the ticket prices starting from July, while having lower rates for the spring season.
In a similar way, accommodations, car rentals, flights, trains, etc are much cheaper in April and May. You can end up paying twice as much for the same holiday if you take it in Summer instead of Spring.
Skip the Crowds
Truth be told, almost everyone is travelling during the summer. Beaches are overcrowded, queuing for tourist attractions is inevitable, restaurants are full, finding an accommodation might be a nightmare. Well, you can also go in spring and enjoy the not so crowded streets, which will allow you a more quiet experience.
Taking Holidays
With the beginning of the summer, getting days off work might become extremely difficult, as everyone likes travelling during the summer months – July and August. You might end up fighting with your colleagues to get the days that you want off.
April and May, however, are not so popular and getting days off will be much easier.
Delightful Weather
The sun is shining, it is warm and pleasant, but not massively hot, which means this is a perfect weather for a mountain getaway or a weekend city break. Yes, rains are always possible in spring, but when in a good company, you wouldn’t mind it.
Long Days
The longest day of the year is June 21st. The days at the end of May and beginning of June have long daylight, which means that you can enjoy night walks while the sun is still up and shinning.

Spring is definitely the one of the best times to travel, early spring is good for seeing the flowers bloom and life beginning again!
My favorite is winter though, traveling the Christmas markets, seeing the lights, snow, mountains and mountain sports, then come home to some warm drinks around a fire?! Perfect!
